7 Labor & Delivery Hacks to Avoid Contraction Confusion

If you’re worried you will be contracting during labor and you won’t know what to do – I’ve got some GREAT hacks for you! Check out these 7 labor and delivery hacks to help you avoid contraction confusion:

1. Hip Squeeze

Leaning over something like a bed or a couch can be comfortable. The hip squeeze can take pressure off your back.

2. Pressure Point Press

A steady squeeze on this pressure point on your hand can reduce the pain that you feel from contractions.

3. Head Squeeze

A head squeeze can be so simple but so relaxing.  Steady pressure is applied on the forehead and the bottom of the skull.  This helps relax the neck and the body.

Be sure to have an eye cover and headphones to give yourself some privacy.  The feeling of being watched has been shown to negatively affect a person’s labor. Privacy can help the flow of Oxytocin, which helps contractions stay consistent, and labor continues to move forward. Headphones in labor are a way to block out the unfamiliar noises of a hospital or birth center – even if nothing is playing in them!
