The TRUTH behind my Labor & Delivery Hack videos

Honestly, I show up best when it’s on the fly, anyway, and I’ve seen a theme in my DMs, comments on videos, and in client conversations recently.

It’s what I believe is the truth behind the popularity of my TikTok labor hack videos

If you haven’t seen these videos, they’re part of a trend that one creator started as her video style: the creator states a common complaint or hardship and then role-plays what someone would say as advice to that hardship, calling it a “hack.”

These labor hack videos weren’t “hacks” and instead are information about real choices in labor and birth.

But if they were simple examples of exercising choice and scripts for navigating the healthcare hierarchy, why did they get millions of views so quickly?

Answer:  These parodies represent what we want to see in birth culture today.

Often, we’ll have a bad experience or we’ll feel confused, unprepared, caught off guard, or under-educated about our own voice, choice, and physiology in childbirth, and we focus so much of our energy on “what went wrong.” All of that energy on the “should haves” and “would haves” prevents us from really visualizing what’s also possible in the birth space – the positive outcomes we want.

My labor & deliery superpower is helping pregnant families discover what they want their birth experience to look and feel like, sort out the specifics so that it's a possibility and not a wish, and then focus on that as their goal.

Focusing on how your pregnancy, labor & delivery went last time or your worst-case scenarios can keep you in a negative space and only equip you with a long list of what you don’t want instead of all that you do want out of your birth experience.

My #1 Labor Hack: Learn what you want out of your birth and then take actionable steps forward in that direction.

I hope this helps you make a few shifts in your parenting mindset and goal-setting for your pregnancy, labor & delivery!
